2024: THE YEAR IN REVIEW

 

Hello, 2025! A new year has arrived, bringing with it new opportunities to create unforgettable memories and live special moments. While we look forward to the future with excitement, we also celebrate the past year, filled with achievements that reinforce our commitment to excellence.

At PortoBay, we believe that continuous innovation is essential to provide unique experiences. That’s why every year, we renew our commitment to improving our hotels and restaurants and continue to focus on being close to our guests.

 

Updates to the Prestige by PortoBay loyalty program

In 2024, the Prestige by PortoBay loyalty program was presented with a new image, offering more flexibility and convenience to its members. The restructuring introduced new levels and a progression system that, in addition to stays, also counts the number of nights spent at a PortoBay hotel. The count is done in Experience Points (XP), where each stay is worth 6XP and each night is worth 1XP.

The Cliff Bay: brighter and more welcoming

The Cliff Bay hotel in Funchal has renovated some of its areas and is now brighter and more welcoming than ever! These renovations include the reception lobby, which features a renewed floor and light-toned furniture, extending to the lower lobby, Cliff Bar, and Navigators lounge. Additionally, the Rose Garden restaurant now offers a completely renovated dining room to enhance the experience for its guests.

PortoBay Liberdade with a new look

The PortoBay Liberdade hotel in Lisbon has undergone renovations in its main social areas. Starting at the entrance, the reception lobby is now lighter, more comfortable, and brighter. The Bistrô4 restaurant has also been revamped, gaining more space for small groups and highlighting the open kitchen. Outside, a new rustic table among lemon trees adds to the ambiance and tranquility of the pleasant patio. The new look extends to the Aviator6 bar, featuring contemporary décor enhanced by natural lighting.

New gastronomic concept at L’Hotel PortoBay São Paulo

L’Hotel PortoBay São Paulo in Brazil presents the new Bistrô L’Hotel restaurant. With a fully renovated space, its ambiance is cozy and elegant, ideal for enjoying a unique gastronomic experience. The menu, crafted by chef Luiz Pinheiro, is diverse and reflects the richness of local and international cuisine, including typical Portuguese dishes such as Bacalhau à Brás. The hotel also features a new bar area, Gastrobar 011. With a modern and welcoming atmosphere, it offers a beverage menu created by Alex Mesquita, considered Brazil’s best bartender in 2023.

6 Chefs Get Together in Portugal

The Chefs Get Together is a gastronomic journey that brings together chefs from various PortoBay restaurants, providing an opportunity to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and create special menus for each occasion.
In 2024, six gatherings were held, featuring chefs Benoît Sinthon (Il Gallo d’Oro . 2 Michelin stars), João Luz (Avista), Santiago Anolles (Horta), António Nascimento (PortoBay Santa Maria), Élio Olim (Rose Garden), João Espírito Santo (Bistrô4), Pedro Spínola (Bistrô Flores), and Pedro Baptista (PortoBay Falésia), along with special guest chef Miguel Gameiro.

New communication channels

To facilitate communication with our guests, PortoBay is present on new communication channels!
The PortoBay App now allows you to book your next stay, access your digital Prestige card, check your XP (Experience Points) balance, perform pre check-in, view benefits, offers, and much more. Have you registered yet?
You can also contact us directly through our WhatsApp channel, making it possible to book a hotel and obtain more information quickly and directly through a virtual assistant. Send us a message and get all your questions answered!

Focus on multimedia content

To help you get to know PortoBay better, we consider it essential to continuously invest in multimedia content, especially video formats.
Throughout the year, we continued implementing room videos for our hotels, this time for the Suite Hotel Eden Mar. This allows you to view the rooms and determine which best suits your needs.
Regarding experiences, we offer you a sneak peek into the summer activities at PortoBay hotels through our Summer Happenings video. We also introduced the new PortoBay Blue Ocean hotel in the Algarve with a short introductory video. We concluded the year with a video about the Horta restaurant. Recognized with 110 awards

In 2024, PortoBay was honored with 110 awards, both nationally and internationally. These awards represent the group's excellence in hospitality and gastronomy, many of which are based on our guests' feedback. A special thank you to all who recognize our work and continue to choose PortoBay year after year!

 

Over 76,000 euros raised for HOPE

This year, PortoBay, together with our guests, raised over 76,000 euros for the HOPE project, totaling 692,000 euros over 12 years.
Most guests participated, and around 900 made additional donations, allowing us to once again surpass our fundraising expectations.
HOPE donations are distributed to seven beneficiary institutions, which are extremely grateful and remain dedicated and motivated to continue their work and fulfill their missions. This distribution is carried out by PortoBay staff, who visit and get to know the different institutions we support, whether in Madeira, the Algarve, Lisbon, or Porto.
