73 employees recognized for their career at PortoBay
Yesterday afternoon, PortoBay Hotels & Resorts honored 73 employees with the Career Award, which rewards seniority within the company. The awards were presented to those who reached 10, 20, and 30 years of service this year during a cocktail event at The Cliff Bay hotel in Funchal.
In addition to recognizing the employees of the hotel group based in Madeira, this cocktail also celebrated the 30th anniversary of The Cliff Bay, the flagship hotel of the group, which has recently been renovated. During the ceremony, 17 employees who have been with the hotel since its opening were awarded.
The seniority of employees at PortoBay is a source of great pride, especially in Madeira, the group's oldest destination, where the average tenure is 11 years.
PortoBay Hotels & Resorts has continuously invested in employee benefits with measures such as health insurance, public transport passes, scholarships for children in higher and vocational education, as well as the Career Awards, Excellence Awards, and the Employee of the Month and Year awards.
The CEO of PortoBay Hotels & Resorts, António Trindade, emphasized that the group highly values loyalty, not only from its guests but also from its employees.
He highlighted the importance and great privilege he feels for these PortoBay employees. He also stated that in light of the hiring challenges in the industry, "it is particularly important that the example they have set, and the example that can be given to colleagues, is a priority in the team relationship. Our greatest attribute in being PortoBay and the reason we have so many repeat customers is the PortoBay teams and the recognition of their quality."
He also spoke about the responsibility and importance of their example in welcoming, training, and including foreign communities that have come to work in the hospitality industry, which is essential to ensure that the sector continues to be an important contributor to the regional and national economy.
