Madeira experiences a unique New Year! The "Guinness World of Records" classified this as the largest fireworks show on earth. As the clock strikes twelve on 31 December, the skies light up with fireworks and Funchal's natural amphitheatre is transformed into a grand nativity scene illuminated with more than 250,000 coloured lights.
