FARMERS MARKET

Located in Funchal old town, just five minutes’ walk from the Hotel Porto Santa Maria, the Farmers Market is the most iconic on Madeira.

Built in 1940, it boasts grandiose architecture typical of the Estado Novo, with a central pergola in stonework and beautiful tile panels both inside and out.

It is divided up into various areas and floors:

The ground floor has the fish market.

On the first floor are the florists, dressed in typical costume, fruit and vegetable vendors, cafés and handicraft shops.

The second floor is mostly dedicated to horticultural products.

Next to the main door, there are also cafés with a terrace where you can get a taste of the hustle and bustle.
