MUSEUMS AND CASTLES

The history of the Algarve can be found in its museums, but mainly in the monuments left over from the Christian reconquest and these can be seen above all in Aljezur, Lagos, Silves, Faro, Tavira, Castro Marim and Alcoutim. The forts, churches and castles in these localities are testimony to the many influences in the region. In Albufeira, Paderne is worth seeing, as is the Main Church and the castle, with the ruins of the hermitage of Our Lady of the Assumption.
