The surge of tourists in the summer season extends over the entire year when the Algarve welcomes visitors from all age groups and parts of the world. The bustling night life, the beaches, the water sports, the fantastic golf courses, the lovely landscapes and typical cuisine make Albufeira one of the busiest tourist areas in the region. In this region, there is also a trail with three alternative routes. While leaving from different points, all three lead to Paderne Castle, a fortress built by Muslims in the 12th century. The walk is between 2.6 and 4 km, along the Ribeira de Quarteira and there is the chance to see various species of plants, including olive trees, or animals such as the Snowy Egret or the Brazilian Porcupine.
