STREET ART : GRAFFITI

While São Paulo stands out on the international circuit as a focus for creative economies in Brazil, graffiti has not escaped and blends perfectly with São Paulo cosmopolitanism. Most of the almost 100,000 streets and avenues in the city have been transformed by graffiti artists into true open-air art galleries, which deserve to be part of a tourist itinerary in this sector.

One example is the works of The Twins (Gustavo and Otávio Pandolfo) and Francisco Rodrigues (better known as Nunca) who took part in an exhibition that in August 2008 occupied the façade of the Tate Modern Museum in London.

One of the best known graffiti spots in São Paulo, the Paulista tunnel that leads to Avenida Rebouças, is covered in murals, a mosaic that challenges us to identify the different forms of expression that use the spray can.
