Although it is a surprise for tourists and even São Paulo residents, the city has an eco region. The extreme south of São Paulo holds true natural treasures in the Environmental Protection Areas of Bororo-Colônia and Capivari-Monos: 70% of the municipality’s pristine forest, a variety of animal and plant species, waterfalls, trails, clear rivers and streams, dams and even a viewpoint with a prime view of the São Paulo coast. All this beauty has led to the organised tourist development of the region, with guided tours and trails that include the Colônia Crater, a place where a meteorite hit the Earth 35 million years ago.
Guarapiranga dam, in the south of the city, also offers amazing opportunities for walks. For the more adventurous, companies and schools make boat trips on the shores and even windsurfing courses in the Guarapiranga.
Wonderful spaces for a fun weekend surrounded by nature!!
