SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN

The Sugarloaf Mountain cable car (or "bondinho") is one of the oldest tourist attractions of the city. Designed by the Brazilian engineer Augusto Ferreira Ramos, it was inaugurated in October 1912.

The ride has a 360º view over spectacular landscapes: the beaches of Leme, Copacabana, Ipenema, Flamengo, Leblon, Pedra da Gávea, the impressive Tijuca massif and Corcovado, with the statue of Christ the Redeemer, Guanabara Bay, Botafogo cove, the city centre, Santos Dumont Airport, Governor's Island, Niterói and Rio-Niterói bridge. Below the Serra do Mar, with the "Dedo de Deus" (God's Finger) peak. Unforgettable!!
